Custom Parts Online can supply custom parts made of Gear Hobbing or Gear Cutting.

Gear hobbing is a special form of milling process for cutting spur gears of involute form. It forms the gear through a generating process by rotating the gear blank and the cutter at the same time with a fixed gearing ratio between cutter and blank. The cutter has a profile given in cross section by the fundamental rack for the gear tooth profile and is in the form of a helix. The helix has a number of cuts parallel to the axis to form the cutting teeth with suitably relieved profile.

Features: Accurate machining, precise production of profile and pitch, suitable for short runs, not recommended for small gears.

Typical parts: Spur gears, helical gears, worm wheels.  Tolerances can be specified per your needs on drawings. By default we will follow tolerances per ISO 2768. (Find tolerance info here.)

Max. part size: 600 mm diameter x 0.8 module
