Reaction Injection Molding / PUF molding / PU molding

REACTION INJECTION MOLDING or PU in-situ foam molding or PUF molding is used is automobile and high end industry to impart structural strength for a larger surface area by reinforcing fiber strands and powder into the melt as well as the reactive in-situ resign and hardener fills the cavity in-between the 2 walls to act as a filler to impart buoyancy or strength, as the case may be.

By and large, Polyurethane foam molding also can be categorized under this title, because, principally PU Foam molding is done by reacting 2 liquids, the polyol and the isocyanate into one in a mixing chamber at high speed and time and injecting them further into the desired molds. While getting mixed, the reaction further creates the polymer only after mixing and hence this is also called as in-situ reacting polymers molding process.

Features: Very rigid or flexible foam structures, filled bodies can be achieved.

Typical parts: In flexible applications -foams, foam cushions, arm rests, seat cushions, integrated skin finished arm covers and rests, machine covers, pads, cushion pads, mattresses etc. In rigid applications – wood imitations, cornices, decorative panels and carvings, insulation grade foams, pipe sections and panels.
