Metal Injection Molding - MIM

Metal Injection Molding which is popularly called as M.I.M is an emerging successful technology, a process similar to plastics injection molding. Molds are made and high fusible powdered metal is purged into a die/cavity in molten condition to achieve intricate parts with high tolerances. No finishing or further operations are needed for a MIM part!

Materials that can be used:-

Carbon Steel – Stainless Steel
Changing a part from regular steel to 17-4 PH, 316L, 420 or other stainless does not increase the cost dramatically.

Features: Savings can be realized from elimination of surface treatments like chrome plating.

The higher yield strength and hardness of 17-4 PH and 420 can be utilized to reduce part weight.

Other specialty materials that can be MIM'ed are:

Low expansion alloys (F15)
Nickel Alloys (718)
High temperature alloys (HK30, 310)
Magnetic Materials (Nickel-iron, Silicon-iron, 430L)
Tool Steels (H-13, M-2, M-4)
Tungsten (W), Molybdenum (Mo)
Titanium and Ti-alloys

As this is a specilaized process which involves manufacturing in big volumes, involving dies and tools, the quotes can be sent within 10 working days from the date of receipt of an enquiry.
